Frequently Asked Questions

What is Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional Therapy focuses on improving the quality of food you eat, which will naturally help balance your body chemistry improving overall wellness. A Nutritional Therapist evaluates eating and lifestyle patterns to look for potential nutrient deficiencies and their possible root causes and makes recommendations helping you reach your nutrition goals.  I use the Functional Nutrition model that getting to the root cause of nutrient deficiencies and correcting them using nutrient-dense, whole foods helps restore homeostasis.  Nutritional Therapy can be used alongside other therapies making them more effective such as you would use a personal trainer who evaluates your exercise habits and makes a recommendation for a program geared towards your personal goals for fitness.

What can you expect from Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional Therapy is bio-individual and will be tailored to your needs and goals. This may include carefully chosen dietary recommendations or practical meal suggestions, as well as tips on how to incorporate these changes into your lifestyle.  Also I will look at digestion, blood sugar handling, mineral balance, essential fatty acid status, and hydration, as well as movement, sleep and relaxation, cooking techniques, food sourcing, and stress management.

Are products and supplements recommended?

After an evaluation, you may choose some some supplements as a temporary tool to support the body’s present deficiencies while improving the quality of your daily foods.  Powerful and profound changes can happen using supplements, but long-term improvements come with dietary and lifestyle changes. People eat three times a day with snacks, and that is several opportunities to give our bodies the nourishment it needs.
